This research analyzes, from a pedagogical and critical perspective, the experience of adult learners returning to higher education after a long academic interruption, within the post- pandemic context and through distance learning modalities. The study explores the andragogical characteristics of this population and the emotional, technological, institutional, and methodological challenges they face. Based on a review of recent academic literature (2020–2024), the argument is made that inclusive virtual learning environments must be grounded in a framework of modern humanism, emphasizing student dignity, holistic well-being, and self-realization. The study concludes that post-pandemic higher education demands flexible, ethical, and empathetic pedagogical models that acknowledge the diversity of adult learners, incorporating principles of equity, personalized learning, and humanized technology.
