Abstract

In Costa Rica, the leading cause of death in road accidents is speeding, therefore, this work intends to confirm, based on a sample, if the average speed of the cars in two different sectors of Costa Rica’s highways matches with the established limit, to confirm this objective, an exploratory quantitative investigation was carried out, using the scientific method by the establishment and testing of hypotheses, it was found that the average speed of the vehicles that circulate in the studied sectors is greater than the limit indicated in the law, this demonstrates the importance of statistics to determine road behaviors and helps in decision making to improve road safety.
