Abstract

This research evaluates the effectiveness of Wave Accounting as a free tool for accounting and tax management among Costa Rican entrepreneurs. Using a mixed-methods approach, surveys and interviews were conducted to assess its usability, features, and technical support. The results show that Wave offers advantages such as accessibility and simplicity, but also reveals limitations in customization and advanced support. It was compared to other free and paid platforms, highlighting its strengths and weaknesses. The study concludes that Wave can be a useful option for startups, provided that the specific needs of the business are carefully considered.
