General purpose technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), can no longer be seen as a passing trend, a mere tool or a future promise. They have become drivers of profound transformation that are redrawing the foundations of our society. At the economic level, they are revolutionizing industries, automating processes and generating new business models. On a cultural level, they are changing the way we communicate, consume content and relate to each other and to machines. In academia, AI is rethinking how we teach, how we learn and what knowledge really means. Ignoring this reality is not an option: adapting, understanding and acting becomes an urgent necessity in a world that has already changed. It is a reality, and we are not sizing it up correctly. I just heard in a conference that it was projected that by 2050 superintelligence would be developed, however, that period is already advanced to 2030.
