THE IMPACT OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE ON THE TRANSFORMATION OF BUSINESS DOCUMENT MANAGEMENT IN THE CONTEXT OF THE FIFTH INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION

Abstract

This research examines the transformative impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on enterprise document management within the framework of the Fifth Industrial Revolution. In today's digital era, organizations face massive volumes of information that exceed the capabilities of traditional Document Management Systems (DMS). This study analyzes how AI technologies such as Natural Language Processing (NLP), Machine Learning (ML), Optical Character Recognition (OCR), Computer Vision, and Generative AI are revolutionizing the processing, classification, search, and analysis of business documents. Key applications are examined, including Intelligent Document Processing (IDP), which achieved 78% enterprise adoption in 2025, demonstrating quantifiable improvements: 70% reduction in manual review times, classification accuracy exceeding 90%, and 40% decrease in operational costs. However, implementation presents technological, organizational, and ethical challenges requiring mitigation strategies. The study concludes that AI, aligned with the human-centricity and sustainability principles of Industry 5.0, represents a paradigmatic shift that transforms passive repositories into intelligent systems driving organizational competitiveness.
