This research analyzes the teaching and learning process of students at the University of San Marcos in the virtual modality, through the use of the interactive PhET simulator in the Mathematics I course. The study focuses on the learning of Mathematical Functions, especially the linear function and its graphical representation, highlighting how the manipulation of variables in the simulator enhances the understanding of abstract concepts. The main objective is to identify internal and external factors that influence academic performance and to explore how the use of this tool strengthens digital competencies, systemic thinking, and sustainability, in line with the challenges of the Fifth Industrial Revolution. The simulator, being free and openly accessible, emerges as an innovative and cost-effective alternative that promotes flexible, ethical, and environmentally responsible learning, contributing to the development of intelligent and sustainable organizations.
